Galloway refused entry to Canada

British MP George Galloway was to speak Monday, March 30, at a Toronto conference called Resisting War from Gaza to Kandahar, hosted by the Toronto Coalition to Stop the War, and at a public forum the following day in nearby Mississauga.

Canadian immigration officials have denied his entry into Canada because he has expressed sympathy for the Taliban in Afghanistan and provided financial aid to the Palestinian militant group Hamas. (CBC)

Hamas uses both "political activities and violence in pursuit of its goals" (Wikipedia). Galloway is well known because of his attempts to stop the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Humm, perhaps we should not allow in the Americans!

CBC also reports that the NDP immigration critic Olivia Chow said the Conservatives have a pattern of suppressing those who have contradictory views. "The minister of immigration is becoming the minister of censorship," Chow told Canadian Press. "We don't have to agree with everything Mr. Galloway talks about.

Jewish groups of course applaud the decision to bar Galloway, and of course it's not pollitically correct to write that perhaps Isreal is just as responsible for their situation. No, they would never use violence.

Any ways, whether one agrees with someone or not, we are a country of free speech. Canada, shame on you, let Galloway in!
